The Olympic protests are likely to continue

Dear Editor,
The flame of the “Olympic torch” was snuffed out in Paris and zealous protesters in other countries and cities are awaiting their turn to rebuke the Chinese administration (unless the International Olympic Committee cancels the relay). The protests have been swift and painfully embarrassing for the Chinese administration, but hardly unexpected; the warnings were too pregnant to be disregarded and the Chinese administration must have known that sullen and widespread discontent was growing as a result of its actions in Tibet and Sudan.

I expect more destabilizing actions by protesters leading up to and at the Olympic Games, unless wiser counsel prevails and the Chinese administration begin to address some of the wholesale friction and discontent of its international foreign policies.
Yours faithfully,
Clinton Urling
