A Commissioner of Oaths is needed at Suddie

Dear Editor,
Public concerns have been mounting for a staff member at each of the two courts at Suddie on the Essequibo Coast in Region Two to be appointed to serve as a Justice of the Peace and a commissioner of Oaths to Affidavits in the district.

Such a service is often required there to attest to documents but people have to travel at some cost.

I am told some members ofthe staff there applied for the position several years ago, but while their applications were acknowledged, approval is still being awaited.
In the entire Suddie area and its environs, where thousands of residents live with important government institutions eg schools, Regional Democratic Council office, hospital, post office, New Opportunity Corps, police station and reputable business places, there is not a single JP or commissioner.

I had applied for the position too but the police who had to submit a report on my suitability were not in favour, due no doubt to the fact that I had exposed several ranks whose malfeasance was inimical to the society.
Yours faithfully,
Baliram Persaud
