Some issues that need to be dealt with

Dear Editor,
I’ll appreciate if you can give some answers, or at least get some to these concerns which I think may not be mine only.

 1. Energy:
I was recently viewing a press conference (NCN: 08-04-15) with the President in which he spoke about refined crude oil and its heavy cost to Guyana in producing electricity. I would like to know if the President along with his cabinet ever thought of refining their strategies to stop doing feasibility studies about hydroelectricity projects and just get it done. Years ago, growing up I’ve been hearing about these studies. What is the problem?

2. Values
Can someone explain whose responsibility it is to filter music before it is allowed to be  played on public airwaves? Can the authorities do something about the type of music allowed into  Guyana much more played on air? Is this the kind of society we are nurturing?

3. Noise Nuisance
Can the appropriate ministry do something about the late night noises called parties? Didn’t the Ministry of Home Affairs start the implementation of a law relating to this? What happened? It is still happening and it’s annoying.

Remember there are teachers, CXC and university students in the world too. In the US, England and other countries, when a certain time passes these things have to be lowered in volume, or you may be charged for disturbing the peace, domestic disturbance or noise nuisance. Come on!

4. GT&T
What takes so long to process an application? I applied during the last week in October 2007, now, it’s April and I can’t get a positive reply? What is going on?

5. Vagrants
Whose job, duty or res-ponsibility is it to remove these folks from the streets? They have  respect for no one,  they touch you when begging or passing  and even threaten  to hit you.

About six to eight years ago Capitol News did a piece on this, and I remembered them being tossed around to various government ministries as to who is responsible. So have you guys figured out who it is yet?
Yours faithfully,
S Sampson
