Road fatalities down – police

To date this year there have been 22 road fatalities compared to 61 for the same period last year, the Guyana Police Force (GPF) said yesterday.

According to a release from the Public Relations Department of the GPF, the Annual Police Officers’ Conference, which is currently in session, has taken cognizance of the significant reduction in road fatalities and complimented the Traffic Officer Superintendent Neil Semple and the ranks under his command.

“It was also recognised that this could not have been achieved without the cooperation of the general public and consequently the Police Force is urging all categories of road users to continue to obey the rules of the road and for motorists to drive their vehicles in keeping with the five Cs – Courtesy, Common sense, Consideration, Care and Caution”, the release stated.
