Bartica victims get help from regatta committee

regatta.jpgThree persons who were directly affected by the February 17 Bartica massacre were yesterday given donations by the Bartica Regatta Committee, according to Region Seven Chairman Holbert Knights.
   Debra Bobb – Gilkes, widow of slain Banks security guard Edwin Gilkes; Sheelisa    Khan, reputed wife of slain taxi driver Dexter Adrian and Raymond Whyte who was badly injured, all received donations from the Bartica Regatta Committee. The monies were taken from the profits of the recently held 2008 Easter regatta.
The Regional Chairman also will be working through the regional agriculture department to assist these families in some agricultural projects.
The wife of the late Ervin Perreira is presently out of the country. She will be handed her donation when she returns.
