GABA opens new boxing gym

The Guyana Amateur Boxing Association (GABA) has opened  a new boxing gym at the Parika Mora ‘Community Development Centre’ (CDC).

Affeeze Khan, President of the Guyana Amateur Boxing Association (L) hands over  the boxing equipment to chairman of the Parika/Mora Community Development Centre (CDC) (r) Arthur Thorne, in the presence of CDC executives.At the opening ceremony last Sunday, president of GABA, Affeeze Khan,  presented a quantity of equipment to chairman of the Parika Mora CDC, Arthur Thorne.
The equipment consisted of four pairs of boxing gloves, a pair of hand pads, one speed ball, four mouth guards, two boxing guards and one punching bag and, according to a release from GABA, Thorne and other executives of the CDC gave the assurance that the gear would only be used towards the development of amateur boxing in the community.
They also pledged to work closely with GABA  and Director of Sports, Neil Kumar, towards the development of sports in general within the community.
