GPSU sees regression

In its 42nd Independence anniversary greetings, the Guyana Public Service Union (GPSU) says that even though as a nation Guyana has had many achievements, recently it has treaded backwards.
“Though as a nation there have been many achievements since independence, we have moved rapidly backwards recently, in our inter-relationship as a people as some act …only on self interest and unenlightened racial and political motivations”.

It said that at independence Guyanese recognized the challenges ahead ‘However, now as then, our nation continues to be plagued by people who lack maturity. Manmade obstacles continue to obstruct the wonderful achievement of those goals that would be beneficial to all Guyanese”.

It recognized that an environment of trust, fairness, justice and respect for the laws can guide the nation forward.

The GPSU encouraged all Guyanese towards such an environment.
