Pensioners need relief

Dear Editor,

I wish to congratulate the President and the Ministry of Human Services for their initiative to alleviate the cost of living effects on single parents and public servants.
However, we the pensioners are asking the President and Human Services Minister to help us with the harsh impact this current economic crisis is having on pensioners, including those of us who are retired public servants and are feeling the brunt of the crisis. Our pension is less than twelve thousand dollars ($12,000) per month.

We have served this country faithfully and now that we should be enjoying a decent standard of living, we are forced to survive on our meagre pensions and have fallen so low that we have no sense of personal dignity. Many of us cannot afford the things that we were accustomed to having in order to maintain good health and the utility bills are an additional burden on us.

In light of the foregoing, I humbly ask that His Excellency the President and the Minister of Human Services come up with a plan that would alleviate the situation for pensioners who are bearing the brunt of the crisis.

I thank them both in anticipation of a favourable response and look forward to their usual assistance.

Yours faithfully,
