Builder saws open thigh, bleeds to death

A 19-year-old construction worker bled to death yesterday afternoon at Bartica after an electrical saw, which he was operating, cut open his right thigh.

According to reports emanating from Bartica, Mohammed Nafeez Jummah of 47 Middle Section, Essequibo was building a shed for Mohammed Kassim at Seventh Avenue, Bartica when the incident occurred some time between 4.30 pm and 5 pm.
According to a source, Jummah was on the roof of the shed cutting a rafter when the electrical saw he was using bounced off the wood and into his right thigh.

The source said the wound was approximately nine inches in length and one-and-a-half inches deep.

Jummah bled profusely and later was pronounced dead on arrival at the Bartica Hospital, the source told Stabroek News.
