Principal Magistrate Krishndat Persaud granted $100,000 bail each to two lads; ages 16 and 17-years-old facing two separate charges of carnal knowledge, when they appeared at the Blairmont Court on Monday.
The teens both hail from Number 30 Village. It is alleged that between July 1 and July 31, at the said location, the 16-year-old had carnal knowledge of a female below the age of 15. The 17-year-old reportedly had carnal knowledge of the girl on May 26 last at the same address.
Representing the defendants, attorney-at-law, Joel Persid-Edmond told the court that the 17-year-old is a student of the Belladrum Secondary School while the other attends the Number 29 school.
He asked the court to consider bail as the boys are both writing exams and incarcerating them would affect them academically. The attorney submitted too that was the teens’ first appearance in court.
The defendants were ordered to appear in court on July 4 for report.
