Road safety jingle and mascot contest launched

The National Road Safety Council in conjunction with the Ministry of Education is holding a jingle and mascot competition to raise public awareness on road safety issues and to promote enforcement measures.
The jingle competition is open to the general public while the mascot competition is open to persons between the ages of 6 and 19 years. The winners will each receive one computer system.

According to a release, the jingle must be one the general public can relate to and must promote road safety. It must not exceed 60 seconds and must give a clear, concise message. The jingle must be submitted on a CD or DVD Rom.

The design of the mascot must be suitable for road safety awareness and education and must be attractive to school children. Participants can enter any number of works and all designs for the mascot must be submitted pasted on a letter-size sheet.

Each entry must be signed by a parent, guardian or school teacher and must be suitable for use on banners, video, TV, internet, in newspaper print, letterhead, cards, posters, textile or  various gadgets such as pencils. The entry must also have proper contact information including telephone numbers.

Participants in both competitions are to ensure that they do not infringe on any third-party copyright since the penalty for plagiarism, whether intentional or not, is immediate elimination from the competition.
All entries must be submitted by 12:00 noon on Friday July 11 to the Department of Education of each region. The copyright or design rights of the works will be owned by the National Road Safety Council. All finalists will be notified by telephone.
