GT&T chair to head Caribbean/American NGO

GT&T Chairman Cornelius B Prior has been elected Chairman of the Caribbean Central American Action (CCAA), a press release has said.

The CCAA is an NGO that promotes private sector-led economic development in the Caribbean. It is best known for hosting the Annual Miami Conference on the Caribbean Basin, a forum which brings together senior public and private sector leaders from the region including heads of state, to discuss trade, economic and policy issues in the Americas.

Prior had served on the CCAA’s Executive Committee as treasurer since 2004. He succeeds Jose Perez-Jones, a senior vice president at Seaboard Marine. Commenting on Prior’s election Perez-Jones said he was “delighted to hand over the reins to my good friend and colleague.”

Prior was elected at the CCAA’s Spring Board Meeting and Washington Briefing. He said he is looking forward to “leading an organisation which has done so much to promote trade and investment with the Caribbean.”
Prior is also founder and chairman of the Board of Directors of Atlantic Tele Network whose principal subsidiary is the Guyana Telephone and Telegraph company (GT&T).

He also served as Chairman of the Caribbean Association of National Telecommunication Organizations.
