A great event for the arts in Guyana

Dear Editor,

At last the rebirth of our long demolished Theatre Guild! This is such a great event for the replenishment of the arts in Guyana.

I recall, with much joy, the old days of plays performed at the Theatre Guild, when my late husband, David Westmaas and I, often attended some of the most cherished performances with the classy actors and actresses.

Among the more special for us were, Send Me No Flowers, Clairmont Taitt in A Raisin in the Sun, and the absolute smasher, Dem Two with Marc Matthews and Ken Corsbie.

I also remember clearly one play in which the late Robert Narain acted as Tinker Bell in Peter Pan, and another which I cannot recall at the moment, where he portrayed the late Dr Cheddi Jagan and his electoral jargon.  Narain powdered his hair to look like Cheddi’s.  It was immensely funny.

My congratulations to all Guyanese from all walks of life, who contributed in one way or another, to the rebirth of our own Theatre Guild.
Bravo!

Yours faithfully,
Faye Westmaas
