The police must find Sheliza Khan’s killers

Dear Editor,

It was deeply touching to read in our dailies about the tragedy of 15-year-old Sheliza Khan, whose battered and nude body was found on the Hope Estate road.

Mr Editor, when and how will we be able to move beyond the cruelties of those beastly murders? What reason, in the name of all the gods, could have impelled another human to so brutishly rip apart the life of a 15-year-old girl? These are the cases that the police should be assiduously following, and should not rest until these perverted psychopaths are found/captured.

This Sheliza crime and other similar ones must be acted upon no differently from other kinds of gruesome killing. These outrageous acts against the conscience of our society are having a frightening and negative effect. People reading these horrific things don’t seen to bother much, unless it is someone they know or can identify with, and this is not healthy.

But it was healthy to read that the Ministry of Human Services and Social Security was covering the entire funeral expenses. They must be commended for correctly holding up to their responsibility. To the mother, sister and brothers of Sheliza, my heart bleeds and I shed a tear with you; I wish I could have done more.

Yours faithfully,
Frank Fyffe
