Stockfeeds cuts feed prices by $200

In an effort to alleviate the pressure faced by poultry farmers, Guyana Stockfeeds Inc, of Farm, East Bank Demerara, has announced a reduction in the price of its livestock feeds effective as of yesterday.

The company said in a statement yesterday that all Broiler, Starter, Grower and Finisher will now be sold at $200 per bag less.

The escalation in the prices of feed on the local market has been of major concern to local feed manufacturers and poultry farmers since the start of this year. The prices of corn, soya, rice and all other inputs used for feed production have escalated on the world market with adverse effects on the cost of producing feeds globally, the statement read. This drastic increase in prices has resulted in feed manufacturers being confronted with the difficult task of trying to provide a cushion for the impact the increase has had on farmers and the consuming public at large.

The statement added that it is hoped that the reduction will provide much needed relief to poultry farmers and hopefully will impact on the price of chicken and other poultry on the local market.
