Cuba scholar to boost City Council IT Department

The Mayor and City Councillors said its Technical Department will be boosted with the return of staffer Adunni Christian who just read for a degree in Computer Engineering in Cuba.

In a press release the City Council said developing its Information Technology Department was a priority and it selected Christian to pursue the programme after an offer was made to Mayor Hamilton Green during an official visit to Havana in 2002. Christian studied at the Carlos Rafael Rodriguez University in Cienfuegos. He is expected to assist with the oversight planning, acquisition and deployment of information technology within Georgetown. The Council has also just completed and is about to implement an action plan, the Georgetown Municipal ICT Strategy 2008-2010, which will benefit citizens. The plan will be launched soon.

Also, in 2001 Green and Havana Mayor Conrado Martinez Corona signed a sister city affiliation that promotes better understanding and friendship between the peoples of both countries.
