‘Dis country doan gat law’

Dear Editor,
On Saturday the 9th August I joined a minibus at Diamond to go to Grove EB Demerara. The music in the bus was loud and lewd so I told the conductor it was unlawful to play music in the bus and he replied ‘dis country doan gat law’ and so I answered you must tell the police that. The conductor continued: ‘me can drop you to the station’.
Of course if I had reported the matter to the police and  given the number the vehicle would have been pulled in and whatever time or money was lost both conductor and driver would have blamed on  me and not themselves.
As such I anxiously await the government buses and when they come I hope the operation would be managed by a corporation with autonomy to discipline drivers and others involved in the service.
One other thing, the bridge rail the car ran into and caught afire where the two occupants died a fiery death last Thursday on the EBD road is the only one not widened.
Yours faithfully,
W P  George
