The 40 page youth information booklet will be distributed free of cost to schools, libraries, youth and sports clubs and all national sporting associations across the country, and covers topics such as sports etiquette, importance of education, drugs and drug abuse, HIV/AIDS, peer pressure and basic public manners and public speaking just to name a few.

Secretary of the club Hilbert Foster told the gathering of special invitees including deputy general manager of GT&T Terrence Holder, former Chancellor of the Judiciary Cecil Kennard, Chairman of the National Sports Commission Conrad Plummer, The Bank of Nova Scotia along with the international Pharmaceutical Agency (IPA) Health Care, and F&H Printers who will be in charge of the printing, that the booklet the second of its kind from the club, and the forming of the female team was the brainchild of the now deceased Assistant Secretary/ CEO Farouk Kudrath who recently passed away.
“Last year when we launched the 8th edition of the Club’s magazine, our late Assistant Secretary/CEO was here acting in the capacity of chairperson for the proceedings. Today he is no longer with us, but his vision for the launching of another youth magazine and the formation of a female cricket team has been realized and we are proud to do this here today in his memory.”

Foster further stated”, For good measure, we have also included the National Anthem and Pledge along with certain facts about Guyana which every young person should know. It is our hope that this little pocket book would play a major role in getting our youths to return to the old traditional way of discipline, manners and attitude, and would also assist to properly prepare athletes and sportsmen who have to represent Guyana overseas.”

The club’s female team which is being sponsored by Metro Office and Computer Supplies to the tune of $160,00 that would cover the cost of uniforms and gears for the team which includes three national players in the calibre of Tremayne Smartt, Eva Giddins and Shemaine Campbell, and will be captained by Jacqueline Singh with Campbell as her deputy.
Chief Executive Officer of Metro Taejnauth Jadunauth informed the gathering that his company was pleased to be associated with RHTYSC in terms of sponsorship of their female team and urged the youths of the club to be ambassadors and role models.

“We are pleased to be making this contribution towards the club’s drive to promote discipline and I would like to take this opportunity to urge the youths of not only the club but the community at large to be ambassadors of the organization they represent.”

Jadunauth also called on other business entity to help the club who provides accurate accountability, in its drive as they seek to bring assistance to those who are less fortunate, a plea echoed by IPA’s managing director Lloyd Singh.
“Rose Hall Town Youth and Sports Club (RHTYSC) give account for what they spend and as a corporate entity in Guyana, we have had a lot of problems with other clubs in the past with regards to accountability. We have no problems giving sponsorship, but as a company we do expect accountability and RHTYSC is a club with an exceptional difference on this issue. With such in mind, we have no problem partnering with them and would like to urge other companies to come forward and offer their support towards the development of sports here in Guyana” said Singh.

Meanwhile, Senior Marke-ting Officer of GT&T Rhonda Johnson also expressed her company’s delight in the work being carried out by RHTYSC and pledge its continued support to the club.

“Because GT&T is a corporate citizen with an active conscience, we have supported a number of initiatives in conjunction with the RHTYSC. A perusal of our catalogue of sponsorship will show we supported: their anti drugs and pro-education campaign, the senior citizens’ launch-on, the club’s annual award ceremony, their Ms. Region 6 Pageant, their annual HIV/AIDS programme and many more.”

She added”GT&T will continue to lend support to this youth club once they continue to fulfill their objectives. Today, we are here to launch volume 9 of the club’s magazine – an expression of their success as each volume represents the number of years the magazine is in existence. Therefore, on behalf of GT&T, I would like to encourage Mr. Foster and team to continue the good work they have begun although at times it may seems difficult.”
Prior to the start of proceedings, one minute silence was observed for Kudrath.
