Teen chopped on neck

An Enterprise East Coast Demerara teen was last evening admitted as a patient at the Georgetown Public Hospital after he was dealt a chop across his neck from a well known ‘troublemaker’ in the area who police were still searching for up to press time last night.

Leon Calder, 18,  had to be rushed to the hospital by his older sister because he was bleeding profusely from the deep wound in his neck.

The teen’s sister told Stabroek News that she had only minutes before sprayed perfume on her younger brother since he was dressed for a wedding reception. She said he went a few yards away from his home to check to see if his friend who was accompanying him was ready.

At the gate to his friend’s home, however, Calder’s attacker stood at the gate and refused to move his hand to allow him to pass. The sister said the next thing she knew the man raised a cutlass and dealt her brother a chop to his neck.

She said the matter was reported to the police and officers were searching for him at the time she left home. According to her the man was well known and so she was confident that he would be found.
