Bisram is a teacher

Dear Editor,
For the information of those who may still harbour any doubts, please note the following: I have personally known Vishnu Bisram for 16 years and in all those years I have known him to be a teacher. In fact, he was teaching long before then. I know the name and location of the school at which he teaches and I know the name of his principal. I also know that Bisram is licensed to teach a variety of subjects (not unusual among American teachers), in addition to having an assistant principal’s licence and a principal’s licence (in fact I know many teachers who obtained administration licences but decided against becoming administrators, including a very good friend of mine, who incidentally is also a Guyanese from Georgetown).

I also know that NACTA is a DBA (doing business as) for a legally registered entity. NACTA does not have a website because its members indicated they did not see the necessity to have one. Besides Bisram and Vassan Ramracha, I personally know a few other members of NACTA and am aware of their activities. In fact, I attended some of their meetings in the early nineties and have had interactions with some of them on many issues over the years.

Given that Bisram is a teacher it would seem valid to wonder how he does so much travelling. But there are ways to accomplish this; not counting vacation time, I myself have done a fair amount of travelling, especially to tourism conferences in the Caribbean.

I have been following Bisram’s polls for more than a decade, having published the findings of many of them in The Caribbean Voice, and with one or two exceptions he has usually been quite accurate, even while other more prominent pollsters were wrong. I know of polls that Bisram has done in St Lucia, Guyana, Trinidad & Tobago, Fiji, India, Antigua, Dominica, etc.

I also know of Bisram’s involvement in many community activities and of a number of organizations that have honoured him, The Caribbean Voice having covered these events over time.

Mr Editor, all of the above are facts and while anyone is free to accept or reject them, any individual’s rejection would not negate these facts.
Yours faithfully,
Annan Boodram
