Magistrate Hazel Octive-Hamilton on Thursday remanded a man accused of breaking and entering, theft and assault, when he appeared at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court.
Twenty-three-year-old Andrew Hunte of 185 Lance Gibbs Street, pleaded not guilty to breaking and entering JT’s Café, stealing two flat screen computers and assaulting Police Constable Sherwin Braithwaite.
The prosecution told the court that from information gathered, Hunte who sells computers, allegedly asked Brian Soares to buy computers from him but his offer was refused. Later that day he was allegedly seen breaking and entering JT’s Café where he stole two computers worth $400,000.
Hunte was apprehended soon after and placed on $15,000 station bail. He was also ordered to report to the station the same day but he never appeared. Constable Braithwaite went in search of him and while he was arresting Hunte the man allegedly assaulted him.
In his bail application Hunte’s attorney told the court that the accusations brought against his client stemmed from a business relationship that had gone sour.
Hunte was ordered to appear in court on September 12.
