Trophy Stall final bowls off under floodlights on Friday

The eagerly anticipated final of the Trophy Stall-sponsored 15 overs-a-side softball tournament will be played under floodlights at Banks DIH Thirst Park ground between Rocky XI of West Coast and Trophy Stall XI of the East Coast beginning at 5.30pm.

Both teams have played unbeaten in the tournament and the final is now a hot topic as a keen contest is expected. Everyone who appreciates good softball cricket will be able to see an exciting match as both teams possess match winners.

Rocky XI has a strong batting line up which includes a veteran softball player in their captain  Amrit  “Rocky” Jairam  who will have plenty of support from the likes of Demerara under-19 player Balbinder Persaud of whom much is expected as he currently has an average of over 50 in this form of the game

There will also be support from the dependable David Allen who has been in fine form and has only been dismissed 3 times from his 16 visits to the wicket, and the left handed opening batsman Azad Azeez. There is also the evergreen Asif Mohamed who in tandem with Azeez has taken Rocky XI out of danger on many occasions.

Their bowling will depend heavily on Davendra Khusial who often rips the heart out of the opposition’s batting and he will be supported by Mohamed who also can be devastating on his day.

Added support will come from David Allen who bowls left-handed and will offer variety to the bowling attack as well as Rambharose Beharry, another left-handed bowler.

Meanwhile Trophy Stall XI who has a lot of experience in their line-up are no pushovers and will depend heavily on the in-form Mark “Rambo” Harold who has three centuries to his name in this competition and will certainly be looking to get his fourth in this game.

He will have plenty of support coming from openers Rajin Mohamed who started the competition with a century but then faded, and the other opener captain Dindial Lakhan.

Added batting support will come from the veteran Mark Fung who has been around for a long time and is one who can change the game once he is at the wicket. Randy Ketwaroo, who is another veteran on the team and also has a century in the last innings he played, is also capable of taking the match away from the opposing team.

Their bowling will be led by Lakhan who has been very economical in this tournament and along with the wily Mark Fung, Rajin Mohamed, Gary Singh who bowls flat and can keep it tight at one end, will be looking to apply early pressure on Rocky XI’s batting.

Managing Director of Trophy Stall Ramesh Sunich will be on hand to meet the teams before the start of the game and will also assist with the presentation of prizes.
