Cabinet gave its no-objection to several contracts worth millions of dollars in the electricity, social, health, education and agriculture sectors when it met on Tuesday.
Head of the Presidential Secretariat, Dr. Roger Luncheon told reporters at his post-Cabinet media briefing yesterday that cabinet had given its no-objection to a US$300,000 contract for the procurement for a replacement engine and spares for the Canefield power station.
Among other contracts which received cabinet’s no-objection were an over US$253,000 contract for the supply and delivery of furniture and recreational items for health centre outposts and other regional centres and $30.3M for procurement and maintenance of air conditioning services for the Georgetown Public Hospital. In the education sector, there were $16.1M for the procurement of pole sleeper and cross bar for Bartica; US$434,000 for the procurement of Rainbow Readers for the school system, $110M for the procurement of Nelson’s New West Indian Reader and US$100,000 for the charter of an aircraft for Cuban scholarship awardees to travel to Cuba. In the agriculture sector US$11.7M was green-lighted for the supply and installation of a packaging facility and sugar processing equipment at Enmore.
