Gary launches 2009 collection at FashionHow in NY

New York-based Guyanese designer Roger Gary launched his Spring/ Summer 2009 Collection at New York fashion week, FashionHow International De-signers Show, which opened on Monday last at Devin Tavern, Tribeca New York.

According to a press release, Gary opened the showcase with a collection that took the audience on “an imaginary visit to a tropical forest at midnight”. His pieces included metallic brocade tops, ivory silk-satin pants, graphic floral prints, textured fabrics and colourful animal prints. He accessorized his pieces with feathered plumage, mahogany bracelets and necklaces and oversized floral headpieces, all of which he also designed.

The release said shoes for the collection were provided by Bakers Footwear Group, while hairstyles were by Rochelle Walters and the make-up was done by celebrity make-up artist, Merrell Hollis.

The showcase also included swimwear from Kae Couture by Kenyatta Williams of Atlanta, USA;  knitwear by designer Megan Crook of USA/UK; pieces by Herani Ethiopia of Eritrea, Samantha Marks and Romero Bryan of London, UK,  Larry Moultrie of Philadelphia, USA and menswear designer, Nana Boateng of Ghana.
