Many buses still have their music systems

Dear Editor,

With regard to traffic control too many times, the police work in the less troubled areas. For example, the East Bank and South minibuses are notorious for speeding, and the latter have kept up the loud and abrasive music. Many buses still have their music systems, and when approaching a lawman will lower the volume. I find this to be an indictment of the police. Surely the police are not fooled by this gimmick. All that is needed is for the systems to be removed from these vehicles, and that will solve all the noise problems. Also, why is it that buses caught in any kind of traffic illegality, are asked to go to Brickdam or the relevant police stations? Do operators have to go to the police precincts for charges to be effected? What is the law here? Please Commissioner, give us some help here. I have been asked to disembark on too many occasions.

My second grouse is with NCN.  I listen to the various newscasts, and these seem like history. The items are repeated verbatim for more than one day. This, when complicated with grammatical errors is a problem. Too many times I have called the sportscaster to point out that the items were outdated, only to find out that the news was pre-recorded.  There are problems too in the case of a presenter on 98.1FM, as well as on VOG.

If presenters are incompetent and limited, then simply seek to train them.

Yours faithfully,
Shane Rizwan
