Defending champion Alonzo Greaves

Defending champion Alonzo Greaves, as expected, retained his title when he defeated a strong field to capture 35-lap event for Schoolboys and novices at the sixth annual Laparkan Holdings Limited (LHL) sponsored cycle programme organized by national cycling coach Hassan Mohammed on Saturday around the  inner circuit of the National Park.

The Carlton Wheelers Cycle Club cyclist, who won last year’s Schoolboys and novices event with a time of 1:26:56 secs finished this year’s event in a time of one hour, 23 minutes and 35.71 seconds, lapping the field in the process.

Second place was occupied by Tyrone Hamilton who finished in a time of 1:25:10s with Christopher Persaud third.

Danny Ramchurjee, Phillip Piggott and Virgil Jones, occupied the fourth, fifth and  sixth positions in that order.
Greaves captured five of the eight prime prizes that were up for grabs.

Jason Pollydore won the juveniles category in the absence of defending champion Scott Savory who has migrated, with Jonathon Fagundes second and Naomi Singh, third while Kester Croal won the uprights category from Dennis Charles and Kevon Walters respectively.

Pollydore also carted off the 12-14 age group category from Jamal Cromwell and Singh.

The veterans over-50 category was won by Aubrey Gravesande from Courtney Thomas and  Lloyd Williams while the veterans under-50 category saw Jones taking the top spot ahead of Kennard Lovell and Bochel Samaroo.
The BMX boys’ 6-9 years of age category was won by Raymond Perezfrom Dineshwar Raghubeer and Rawle Mc Lean while the BMX 9-12  age group category saw Tariq Baksh winning from Treon Joseph and Vivekanand Rudradeo.

The BMX 12-14 age group category was won by Cromwell with Brandon Baker and Akkeem Lakon second and third respectively while the BMX Open category saw Ozia McAulay winning from  Fagundes and Kevin Edwards in that order.

The presentation of prizes to the winners and runners-up were done by general manager of laprkan Holdings Limited Raymond Changlee and Sherry Alleyne senior supervisor of marketing.
