Gary Rogers of 211 Guyhoc Park pleaded not guilty to the charge of robbery under arms when it was read to him.

It is alleged that on September 25 in Georgetown the accused while being armed with a handgun robbed Kemraj Bhagwandin of a car and a number of accessories together worth $1,702,000.

Attorney-at-law Mark Waldron who represented Rogers in the matter said  the virtual complainant (VC) had identified an “entirely different” individual from his client as the person who stole the car. Further, he stated that Rogers worked at the carwash where the car was taken.

Waldron explained to the court that Rogers was driving the car when a police patrol stopped him and demanded to see his licence. It was then, he said, that Rogers learnt the car had been stolen earlier.

The prosecution said that Rogers along with another man had robbed Bhagwandin of the vehicle. Roger’s alleged accomplice had pointed a gun to the VC’s head and it was Rogers, the prosecution said, who drove off with the car.
Further, the prosecution objected to bail citing the seriousness of the offence and possible interference with the witness as grounds for refusal.

Rogers was refused bail and he is to appear in Court Five on October 10 when the matter is due for statements.
