Founder of the Kids First Fund (KFF), Varshnie Singh, said the organization is looking to raise US$73,696 to take ten more children to India for life-saving surgeries.
In a press release giving an update of the organisation’s achievements over the past year, Singh said that last October ten children were sent to India for open heart surgery. Their bills totalled US$55,596. Finances to clear this bill had to be raised by Kids First Fund before more children could have been taken to India and this was completed in June this year, after several trips to the USA and the UK and with some US$11,000, which was received from the Ministry of Health in November last year.
Singh, in the release, expressed “thanks to the generosity of concerned citizens in Guyana, Canada, the UK and USA” who all assisted in paying off the bill.
Singh, who was recently in the US and the UK, was trying to raise US$96,000 to take another ten children to India to have life-saving surgeries. According to the release, US$16,595 was raised in New York and another £3,300 in the UK which made a total of US$22,304.
