Two masons who allegedly robbed two women of cell phones and a quantity of cash were both remanded to prison on Wednesday when they appeared before Magistrate Hazel Octive-Hamilton at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court.
Both Jason Caesar, 25, and Cecil Billson, 28, were not required to plead to the indictable charge of robbery under arms. It is alleged that on October 26, Caesar used a knife to rob Jerelle Francis of a quantity of cash and a cell phone, all valued $90,000.
It is also alleged that on the same day Billson used a ‘juker’ (improvised dagger) to rob Robin De Florimonte of a cell phone valued $160,000.
The attorney representing Caesar and Billson applied for bail for them stating that they both had an unblemished record with the law and they posed no flight risk.
However Magistrate Octive-Hamilton refuted the claim of an unblemished record for Billson since he had appeared before her for a previous matter.
The prosecution then objected to the bail application on the grounds that both Caesar and Billson where caught about the same time after they had committed the offence and were positively identified by Francis and De Florimonte.
The magistrate later ordered that both Caesar and Billson be remanded to prison and that they appear back in court on November 12.
