PPP hopes Obama can bring more enlightened position on ecological crisis

The PPP  has expressed the hope that the new US administration  would bring a more enlightened position on the ecological crisis facing the world and threatening the very existence of the  planet.

The ruling party indicated its expectation yesterday while extending congratulations to US President-elect Barack Obama  and the  Democratic Party for the resounding victory  they scored at the November 4 elections.

“This is a great victory for the people of the US as well,” the  PPP statement added.
The party pointed out  that  this is an historic event since Obama is the first  African-American to be elected to the highest office of the US and it  is also a clear indication of how far the US has traveled in respect of race relations.

“It is an event that inspires hope for all peoples struggling everywhere for equality and freedom,” the PPP declared.
It also noted that the US President-elect will be taking  office in the midst of several great problems confronting his country and the world,  including the grave financial crisis  and  the wars that are raging in Iraq,  Afghanistan and Pakistan, together with the plight of the  Palestinian people.

The PPP also expressed hope that  through the Obama administration   a “new partnership between North and South, East and West can be forged to bring about a New  Global Human Order.”
