Seven in hospital after bees attack

Seven persons were hospitalized after being stung by Africanised bees while they were picking plums in an alleyway in Meadowbrook Gardens yesterday.

A one-year-old boy is said to be in a serious condition at the children’s ward of the Georgetown Public Hospital. Hospitalized are one-year-old Kenroy Cadogan, Kent Cadogan, 3, Garfield Cadogan, 4, of Durban Street, Gabrielle Sankar, 2, Graceyella Sankar, 19, and Natasha Jones, 25, of Meadowbrook and Julian Lillie, 49, of Bel Air.

Reports reaching Stabroek News are that the group was picking plums at Meadowbrook yesterday afternoon when they apparently disturbed the bees nest. The bees attacked them and they ran away. However, they still sustained a number of stings.
