A officer attached to the Georgetown Prison was arrested on Thursday after he attempted to smuggle marijuana into the detention facility in a pair of regulation boots. Police, in a statement, said that around 11 am the officer who was on duty was caught attempting to take 149 grammes of the prohibited substance into the prison compound. Investigations have revealed that the officer was working in the yard inside the compound when he left to go outside to collect a pair of regulation boots. A check of the boots by a female prison officer unearthed the drugs hidden inside.
