Baron Foods gets new international quality certification

Baron Foods Limited has recently received a prestigious international quality assurance standard.

In a press release the company said the ISO 22000:2005 standard offers a global solution in harmonizing requirements towards safety management systems of a food supply chain. The company said its advantage is its synergy with Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP). Baron said it is the first company in the food manufacturing and processing industry within the OECS and Caricom to have achieved this standard.

Managing Director Ronald Ramjattan said though the company may not be the main participant in the international market it is “cognizant of the fact that we are definitely participating.” Importance has always been placed on established quality assurance systems in all aspects of production he added.

The release said Baron currently manufactures 135 products and employees over 75 persons at its production facility at the View Fort Industrial Estate in St Lucia. Its products are available in the French, English and Dutch speaking Caribbean as well as in the USA, Canada, UK, France and Germany.

The company received the certification in September.
