Forbears from India were ‘indomitable pioneers’

The Indian Commemoration Trust says the indentured labourers who crossed the Kala Pani are “indomitable pioneers” who contributed to building Guyana.

In a press release Chairman Yesu Persaud said the Trust recognises the sacrifices the labourers made for this and future generations who are today making a mark not only in Guyana but in several parts of the world.
At the same time, it reminded that Guyana is a multi-cultural, multi-ethnic and multi-religious society and in order to ensure that the country progresses all must live in peace and harmony. The Trust said too this year it celebrates its 20th anniversary and it is pleased that other organisations have started to help sustain the rich heritage and culture left by the fore-parents.
