IPED workers robbed in dramatic city hold-up

Three staff members of the Institute of Private Enterprise Development  (IPED) were yesterday afternoon attacked and robbed by four men, three of whom were armed with handguns, and who made good their escape with over half a million dollars in cash and over $2M in cheques.

According to a police press release Credit supervisor/driver Vishnu Haripaul  along with two office assistants were in a black Rav 4 and were on their way to a city bank around 3.55 pm to make deposits when a motor car blocked their path at the junction of Charlotte and Oronoque streets.

The three armed men came up and held the victims at gunpoint and ordered them out of the vehicle.

According to the police the men then drove away with the Rav 4 and the fourth bandit who was driving a motor car also escaped. Investigations are continuing.
