DirecTV showing WBC lightweight title fight tonight

DirecTV is inviting its customers to get ringside seats to the World Championship Boxing (WBC) today especially to witness Edwin Valero’s return to the ring to vie for the Interim World Lightweight title.

The company said the match line-up will feature eight elite 135-pounders in four pivotal clashes that “will undoubtedly re-arrange the hierarchy of the highly competitive…division in one night.”

It said too the main event will see Valero, the “undefeated knockout artist” of Venezuela clashing with hard-hitting Colombian Antonio Pitalua in a 12-round championship bout for the vacant lightweight crown.

Meanwhile, the evening’s premier match will feature Argentine Jorge Barrios against World Champion fighter Carlos Hernandez in a 10-round match-up. Prior to the main event there will also be a 10-round clash between former two-time World Champion and Olympic gold medallist Cuban-born Joel Casamayor and former World Champion and California native Julio Diaz.

Rounding out the matches is Austin’s Jesus Chavez a former Lightweight World Champion who is looking to capture victory at home when he clashes with Australian Michael Katsidis.

The matches can be viewed on DirecTV’s HBO Channel 524 from 9pm.
