New edition of Guyana – where & what in the making

The third edition of Guyana – where & what, a visitors’ handbook is scheduled to be completed and in circulation by June or July this year.

According to a press release from General Executive Management Services Inc (GEMS) Inc, Guyana – where & what is the first tour guide book of its kind to be published in Guyana and is a very useful reference book for visitors to Guyana.

GEMS intends to increase the number of pages in the 2009-10 edition from 106 to 145, featuring additional sections with articles on Bartica, Essequibo, Berbice, Linden and Lethem. Some 20,000 copies will be in circulation.

A usual calendar of holidays and events, guide to restaurants, hotels, tours, resorts, historical sites, places of interest, shopping, souvenir and gift shops, duty free, recreational areas, do’s and don’ts, foreign exchange, internet cafes, taxi service, cell phones, banking, emergency and health care, beauty parlours, pools, gyms, music stores and bookshops would all be included in the new publication.

Marketing for advertising has already begun and potential advertisers are asked to secure their spot soon as there is a limited time for securing ads.

The press release noted that the first edition was launched prior to World Cup Cricket in 2007, while the second edition was launched in August 2008 before Carifesta X.
