Western Union reaches out to GNA and GMR&SC

Western Union in a simple ceremony held recently at their head office gave monetary donations to the Guyana Netball Association (GNA) and the Guyana Motor Racing and Sports Club (GMR&SC) competitor.

The GNA received a cheque for $50,000 while Addaudi Singh of the GMR&SC received a cheque for US$1,000 from Marketing Manager of Grace Kennedy Natheeah King.

“Western Union is always interested in getting involved and supporting young people once it is something of value,” King stated.

“We look into the need of them and once they want to excel in sport or in school we will support them and we will do so continuously,” she added.

A team will be selected to represent Guyana in the Caribbean Netball Association’s (CAN) 10th Under-16 Youth Tournament in Jamaica from April 23-30.

“Guyana has not participated in the tournament since 2002 because of the financial status over the years but this year we are pressing and are extremely grateful for the support from Western Union. We still have a few weeks left and will accept all the support we can get,” said GNA president Maxine Paris-Aaron.

She was accompanied by vice-president of the association Shondel Samaroo who is also manager and assistant coach of the team that will be participating in this year’s tourney.

Meanwhile, GMR&SC’s Class 2A driver stated that they will be competing under the Western Union brand this year and he plans to race in both the 2A and 2B classes.

Singh and his team are currently in preparation for the first GM&SC competition of the year that is slated for May 5 at the South Dakota Circuit.
