City Council outlines $10M work plan

The Mayor and City Council (M&CC) said it has received the $10M budgeted by the government and has outlined a programme of works to be done.

In a press release the M&CC said it has purchased parts to repair drainage and related machines. It said too it will undertake a number of embankment works such as the grading of parapets and verges in the Lodge Housing Scheme, Agricola, Cummings Lodge, Cummingsburg, La Repentir Cemetery and Tucville. Works will also be done in Block One: between Lamaha and Church streets and from Main to Camp streets. In Block Two: from Camp to East Street and in Block Three between Wellington Street and Avenue of the Republic and from South Road to Church Street.

Repairs will be done to roads in Cummings Lodge; in First, Second and Sixth streets; in Lodge north and south of the housing scheme; in the cemetery: Louisa Row (Princes to Sussex streets); Broad Street (St Stephen Street to Cemetery Road) Howes Street (Cemetery Road to Martyrs Road and Martyrs Road (Broad to Sussex streets). Roads at Tucville from Jackson Street to the entrance to the Tucville school along with Kato and Titus streets Agricola will also be rehabilitated.

The council said it has already started to purchase the items necessary to conduct the works which are set to start on May 2. It said too residents will be recruited for some works and interested persons are advised to contact its offices no later than next Wednesday.
