Seven-race horse meet set for May 3

Some of the country’s top horses are expected to converge at the Ryan Crawford Memorial Turf Club at Alness Village, Corentyne, for a massive one day meeting on Sunday May 3, with Banks DIH being the major sponsor.

The B and Lower class will carry the highest purse with the winner taking home $300,000, and the three year old open, Guyana and West Indies bred will have a prize of $200,000.

$100,000 will be up for grabs in the G and Lower class while the F and Lower will see the winner pocketing $120,000. In the I and Lower class $80,000 will go to the winner, the J, K and Lower classes winner will pouch $70,000 and the L Class, winner is down to receive $60,000.

A registration fee of $2,000 per race must be paid by Sunday, April 26 at the Club’s office at number 13 village, Corentyne.

Owners can also make their entries through Inshanally Habibula (624-9213) at the rising sun turf club or Bobby Vaughn (333-0290) and Lillian Crawford (331-0048).

According to a release from the club, all two year old horses eligible for racing, must be accompanied by a veterinary certificate at the time of entry.  (Rawle Toney)
