Linden pageant co-ordinator on indecent assault charge

Residents and sponsors alike are worried about the Linden Town Week pageant after its Coordinator Leon Roberts was yesterday remanded to prison on a charge of indecent assault of a young woman.

Roberts appeared before Magistrate Ann McClellan at the Christiansburg Magistrate’s Court where he was denied bail on the grounds that he is likely to interfere with the virtual complainant.

It was alleged that the accused on Monday lured the young woman to his office on the pretext that he wanted to hand over a cheque in connection with the pageant.

The coordinator who is also the communications officer for the Regional Democratic Council and of 28 Fair’s Rust is to return to court on May 12.
