Masks, bacterial gel on CAL flights

(Trinidad Express) – Caribbean Airlines will be providing face masks and anti bacterial gel aboard all its flights to and from North America for persons displaying any flu-like systems.

The precautionary measure is being taken to mitigate the spread of swine flu, according to Phillip Saunders, the airline’s CEO. “Caribbean Airlines will continue to act responsibly at all times,” Saunders told the Express. “In terms of measures we will keep our staff up to date with any new developments and we will also be carrying a full number of face masks and anti bacterial gel on all our flights to and from North America for anyone displaying flu type systems.”

He said the airline, which operates North American gateways in Ft Lauderdale, New York, Miami and Toronto as well as London in the UK, will continue to liaise with the local health authorities. “At the same time the World Health Organisation (WHO) in all its statements has pointed out strongly that it is not recommending any restriction in travel. We continue to operate our services normally,” he said.
