What are our priorities when President’s College cannot get a proper water supply?

Dear Editor,
My, my, this government is rather rich, to spend $10M not on a commercial air carrier but on a chartered flight to take Opposition Leader Mr Corbin to New York. We really treat our Opposition Leaders well. Could he not have travelled on a commercial plane and cut costs? I am indeed happy that he is doing okay but why must millions of our tax-paying dollars be spent in this manner?

The picture of President’s College students lining up to fetch water at their school in Thursday’s Kaieteur News just goes to show our priorities in this country – we can spend ten million dollars in such a manner but the children at the country’s premier secondary school cannot get a proper water supply. Trainee teachers at the country’s teacher-training institution cannot get proper security to protect them from intruders.

The health and welfare of Mr Robert Corbin is indeed of urgency and priority, but our government has proven (not only this time) but over and over and over (Carifesta $500M; presidential trips to every corner of the globe, etc, etc) how rich they are while portions of the nation ‘hidden’ in tiny, small communities continue to live in the bowels of dire poverty and hardship.
Yours faithfully,
Leon James Suseran
