Some use every opportunity to condemn the best efforts of the government

Dear Editor,
Within recent times, the name of a personality keeps popping up as being associated with events and entities that are notoriously regarded as opposed to the Government of Guyana. This particular personality, like some others, is noted from his numerous written interventions to the press, as bent on using every opportunity to condemn the best efforts of the government and to agitate for “change.”

These efforts are manifold and pernicious like the deliberate palpable effort at embarrassing the PPP government attempted by the Aubrey Armstrong wages tribunal in awarding an unprecedented nearly 60% increase in salaries to public servants for 1999 and 2000. Now here he is, popping up at the GTUC May Day rally talking about political oppression.

Armstrong is also represented as being an executive of the PNCR and I just wonder at which Congress he was elected an executive? In my book, he joins the ranks of a series of ‘backdoor’ politicians being imposed upon the rank and file membership.
Yours faithfully,
David DeGroot
