GBA visits BHS as junior drive continues

With their continuing junior drive in progress, president of the Guyana Badminton Association (GBA) Gokarn Ramdhani along with a few executive members were invited by Ms. Terry Stuart of the Bishops High School Old Students Association last Tuesday.

According to a press release, the main purpose of the visit was to assist the school with improving and developing the game of badminton which was recently restarted at the school and Physical Education teacher Ms. Kendra Squires introduced the players and interested persons to the GBA representatives.

Demonstrations on the basic rules and on court play were done along with some oral explanations to the students who displayed lots of interest towards the sport.

The students were also introduced to basic play including warm-up exercises, court runs, singles and doubles play, court drills and other basic badminton exercises and the GBA plans to make regular visits to ensure the game is taken to a higher level at the school.
Shuttlecocks and DVDs on badminton were also handed out to the PE teacher to help with the development of  the game.
