A 25-year-old man was placed on bail in the sum of $305,000 when he appeared last Friday before Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court to answer to two counts of conspiracy to commit a felony and uttering forged documents.
It is alleged that on May 21 at Georgetown, Imran Khan of 1313 Lusignan, East Coast Demerara drove motor car PLL 5850 with windows so tinted as to prohibit the driver and occupant or occupants from being seen.
It is also alleged that between January 6 and May 21 at Georgetown, Khan, with intent to defraud, conspired with a person or persons unknown to forge one tint permit purporting to show that it was issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs.
Between April 1 and May 21 at Georgetown, Khan also allegedly with intention to defraud, forged one tint permit purporting to show that it was issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs.
On May 21 at Georgetown, the said Khan is also alleged to have uttered two forged tint permits to two police officers knowing same to be forged.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charges when they were read to him by the Acting Chief Magistrate.
Attorney-at-law Mohamed Zafar who represented the defendant made an application for bail to be granted on the grounds that his client has had no previous antecedents, poses no risk of flight and has fully cooperated with the police in their investigations.
The unemployed Khan was subsequently placed on bail in the sum of $305,000 and has to return to court on July 2 for statements.
