Dead is Prince Garret, who was transporting his employer Renato Fiedtkou and two fellow workers Aubrey Evans, 57, and Mark DeAmil, 38, to Linden where Evans and DeAmil needed to seek medical attention. All three men were thrown out of the vehicle when it turned over.

According to Fiedtkou, they were approximately 40 miles away from Linden the incident occurred. “As far as I could remember we were coming round a turn and the vehicle started to sway from corner to corner before toppling… 15 time before finally coming to a stop.”

He said he was wearing his seat belt and held on to the window of the vehicle resulting in him being the only one not to have been thrown out in the process. He said that he was not sure if Garret was wearing his seat belt at the time.

Evans and DeAmil had fallen ill while working a logging concession operated by Fiedtkou and his brothers and were heading to Linden for medical attention. Fiedtkou said that they had stopped at Mabura to get water and were some distance off when the incident occurred.

He said that the accident occurred around 4.30 and they waited until a

vehicle came along, which was also heading out of the interior. However, the vehicle could not transport the injured since they feared causing further injuries by lifting and rough travel.

Fiedtkou was transported back to a camp where he sought help but to no avail. He said he had to travel to Linden to summon the assistance of the ambulance and that too proved futile. The distraught man said he was told by the ambulance attendants that it was far out of range for them to go get the injured.

However a good Samaritan went to the rescue of the three men who were left lying on the road. Fiedtkou said he had left Garret alive but he succumbed to his injuries about 20 minutes away from the hospital.

The men finally arrived at the Linden Hospital Complex after 8 pm

Evans and DeAmil suffered broken and dislocated body parts. They said they were also from Essequibo.
