A man is in police custody after law enforcement officials found a live grenade in his Meten-meer-Zorg, West Coast Demerara home on Saturday.
The lawmen are seeking the advice of the Director of Public Prosecutions to decide what charges to lay. A police source said that the lawmen had gone to the man’s house to search for drugs. During the course of the search on Saturday, the grenade was found in the man’s dresser in his bedroom.
According to the senior police source, the man said that he had found the grenade in a canefield at Uitvlugt and he took it home.
The source pointed out however, that the man did not report the matter to the police which he should have done and charges will be laid. The man is currently in custody at the Leonora Police Station.
