Floodlights XI dimmed by Yellow Mines

Led by a man-of-the-match performance from Henry Alphonso, Yellow Mines crushed Floodlights XI by 60 runs in their feature 25-overs-a-side softball match Sunday at the Georgetown Cricket Club ground, Bourda.
The underdogs posted 246-4 in their allotted overs then restricted the Floodlights to 186-9 at the expiration of their innings.

Alphonso’s belligerent innings of 81 was laced with six sixes and five fours while David  Wallace hammered 10 sixes and two fours in a second wicket 145-run partnership with Alphonso which was the highlight of the innings.

Asif Ahmad scored an unbeaten 54 which included six sixes and two fours while  Mike Singh, Reyaz Hussain and Pitamber Maharaj claimed one wicket each for Floodlights.

In reply, Floodlights dimmed out although Ricky Deonarine scored 79 (7x6s, 4x4s).
Azad Azeeze adjudged best bowler, finished with 4 – 23 while  Ahmad and Zamal Khan grabbed two wickets each for Yellow Mines.

Ahmad and Ravi Ramsamooj were adjudged the best catcher and fielder respectively on the winning team while the best batsman award on the losing team went to Deonarine.

The best bowler was Singh, best catcher Derick Ramotar and the best fielder,  Rohan Bojraj.
