Delon Haynes of 66 Noitgedacht, Mackenzie, Linden was placed on $150,000 bail when he appeared before Magistrate Ann McLennan at the Christianburg Magistrate’s Court yesterday accused of the indictable offence of receiving stolen property.
The court was told that on February 23 at Burnham Drive, Wismar, Linden, 30-year-old Haynes received from Charles Goring one Nissan Safari motor jeep knowing it to have been stolen or unlawfully obtained.
Defence attorney Joan Ward-Mars argued that the defendant never had a matter before the police or the court and had no prior knowledge that the vehicle was stolen and considered it to be a valid sale.
She also stated that the young man who is hard-working has been employed with his father at his Burnham Drive auto business for over four years. She requested that he be put on reasonable bail. Police prosecutor Inspector Stephen Telford did not object to the bail application.
His parents were in court with the bail money. Haynes is required to reappear in court on July 15.
